poser Maggie (sorry no crafting today)

We had a photo shoot yesterday so my boyfriend could have a portrait of Maggie for his office, for his birthday(he's that difficult to think of ideas for), it was so much fun and I can't believe how well her photos turned out. Best of all my boyfriend loved them.

I hope you liked them, if anyone local is looking for a great photographer I'd highly recommend Lawrence from Snappitt Photography Belfast

Its time for me to give something back to help others x

I know i've been quiet on here but its not often that someone pulls at your heart strings, driving to work one sunday morning last year I passed a young man sleeping rough in the city centre, as I sat at the lights he looked up at me and smiled, a warm kind smile. I couldn't stop thinking about him and often watched out for him, sometimes he was there and other days he wasn't, but it got me thinking about what I could do to make a difference for someone like him in that situation.

Initially I was going to just do the Belfast City Marathon Fun Run, but in this day and age I thought it would be nice to give people something nice in return for their donation, so this year I'm going to use my hobby to raise money for the 'Welcome Organisation' and make packs of cards.

Here are some of the cards I've made so far:

I'm still doing the fun run and any sponsorship would be amazing.

Visit my facebook page to order and to follow how I'm getting on and I have a just giving page if you would like to give a little something to this great cause please donate here x

thanks so much Kathy and Maggie x

Happy Crafty 2014

Happy Crafty 2014 Everyone

I've had a very quiet time lately when it come to crafting, between a poorly puppy, a birthday holiday and of course christmas. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't make one single christmas card!! (I did buy charity ones though so thats no so bad).

I'd really like to share with you the little crafty bits I did make, after posting a picture of the butterfly in a crafty group on facebook a lovely lady asked if i could make one for her mum for christmas, this time in blues and lilacs. I loved the combination of colours, and best of all her mum loved it.

My other project was a 3D bauble for one of my best friends new baby, I bought a photo bauble from home bargains and used my cameo silhouette to make a 3D penguin (purchased from the silhouette store) and the lettering. With a little help from my facebook friends I eventually managed to cut the letters on a curve. Originally I had planned to use a 3D snowflake inside but the lettering got lost. The little gems in the bottom of the globe also came from home bargains and contain a couple I had saved from my friends wedding (use crafty girls are such magpies). My friend was so made up when I gave it to her.

Miss Maggie

Maggie has been busy since I last blogged and a little bit naughty, she thought that eating a sock would be a tasty idea, unfortunately this time it didn't pass through and got stuck in her bowel. Thankfully the vet was a amazing and after a worrying few weeks shes back to her cheeky self.

Feeling very sorry for herself

We thought Maggie should get a part-time job at Wagamama to contribute towards the vet bill hee hee (she preferred it to her cone of shame)

Happy belated christmas from Maggie and I x

Thanks for popping by and heres to more crafting in 2014

Deer oh Deer

Deer oh Deer

I couldn't resist this 3D stags head when I saw it in the Silhouette store, simply because my boyfriend LOVES them, and they're very en vogue at the moment. It was tricky enough to assemble even with instructions but I think that may be because I reduced the size. I put it on the bedroom door as a surprise, and I think he must have liked it as its still there 2 weeks later :-)

I also made this baby card for my friend by personalising a card I bought in the sil store, it took me half the night to join the lettering but with a little help (ok a lot) from my FB friends i'm really happy with how it turned out. I think I may have a glitter addiction when it comes to making cards.

I had a little timeout from facebook for a few months but I missed my crafting chums, and my blog was oh so quiet, so its nice to catch up on everyones chat again. I also had a break from my craft room for a bit there, apart from being lazy with my cameo but its just so easy and cool. Now Im ready to get colouring and entering some challenges again.

My Girl Maggie

Maggie won a bronze award at doggy day care for being good (we were amazed too)

Butterflies

Butterflies

For my cousins 20th birthday I asked her would she like me to buy her a present or make one for her newly decorated bedroom, she choose for me to make something, and as her room was painted cream she had no preference of colour either. My cousin is a girly girl so I knew she'd love a girly picture for her wall. I got the idea from a gift I had bought for 2 friends last year called PixMix which is a shape made up of photos, instead I used 3D butterflies to make a heart shape.

I have so much paper in my left over basket it was fun matching colours, for each butterfly I punched 2 butterflies from the same paper (I had the punch from making my friends wedding invites), one to sit flat on the card and the second glued on top of the first along the body with the wings folded back to give a 3D effect.  I tried to use interesting papers, if you look closely you'll see music notes, a bird, a butterfly, velum and pearlised cardstock.

Im so happy with how it turned out and best of all my cousin loved it.

Maggie won a bronze award at Doggy Day Care this week for good behaviour, she gets her certificate and goody bag presented to her tomorrow at home. Here she is on a walk in the forest, the weather is definitely changing x

I made these on my cameo as a Thank you for being invited to the ulster Tatler awards, we had such an amazing night, especially as we were sitting with a couple of the Irish rugby players :-) I made the smaller card but as it didn't have much room to write inside, I increased the size to make a bigger one. I love this design for quick thank you cards

A play with vinyl

A play with vinyl

My friend Chara and I had an amazing holiday to Vancouver in April. To remember our trip Chara printed all of the photos and put them into a plain black album decorated with stickers from our trip, now obviously being crafty I had to add a personal touch so I decided to have a play with my new vinyl and this is what I came up with.

The spine

Inside I listed our itinerary using elements from the Docrafts All Aboard range for the back page of the album.

For my photos I made a photo album online (I know I should make scrapbooks but I just love photo books), Its amazing how different photos caught my attention between Chara's photo album and my photo book.

Here are a few of the photos we took in Canada, it was just so beautiful x

I'm having a break from facebook and missing my crafty chums (but the break is good) so please if you have time I'd love some comments
