Entry for Here Comes The Boys: layers challenge

This card I made when I got my new Little Claire stamp at the stitch and craft fair, I'd Like to enter this card into the Here Comes The Boys layers challenge.

To make this card I used papers I got free with a magazine, the Little Claire image was coloured using promarkers and I added some of my very favourite card candi to finish off. I also learnt how to make the paper roses at the craft fair, this one was made by Inky Aly.

As for Miss Maggie, she was very bold today. Shes taken this notion for footballs and ran off with one today in the park, it took me a good 5 minutes to get it back from her which is a very long time with a very angry daddy waiting to inspect the ball. Thankfully the ball was fine but madam didn't get off her lead for the rest of her walk.

Here the little rascal is modeling the spring summer range of blanket wear (revenge is sweet)

I'd like to enter the following challenges

Burlesque Simply Betty 21st Birthday card

Finally I can show off one of the Burlesque 2 Simply Bettys (http://simplybstamps.net/) I bought in the secret release, they're just so much fun and I'm sure it'll not be long before I make the other 2 into cards. When the 500th person joins her facebook group shes promised a freebie (and she's nearly there).

I was asked to make a card for a friend in work whose niece was turning 21 this week, the card was from the entire family so she'd asked me to make it in A4. I chose this image because it was for a fun loving bubbly girl and what could be more fun than swinging on a star :-)

For this card I found it difficult to get thick enough A3 card and ended up buying a packet of 175 gsm card from Paperchase and sticking two sheets together to form my base, I then layered some black card with the polka side of docrafts Christmas reindeer/polka paper and again used the black paper to layer the Simply Betty image (I used a 5 euro cent coin and my scalpel to make the photo corners).

Betty was coloured using promarkers and I added a little detail on her costume with black stickles. The stars and dots (these were the centre of a button die) were glitter card I got in tesco cut out with my cuttlebug. The black 21 letters were also cut out with my cuttlebug and black stickles added for a little glamour.

Im very proud of my die cut label because I used my new cameo silhouette to cut the label in black and then reduced it in size and added the writing so it would have the negative effect of the writing showing through, I then used my white gel pen from Paperchase to fill in the A, E and O letters. Although there were a few moments of frustration and a few sheets of paper wasted, I think it turned out really well for my first proper play with the silhouette. I think the black gem brads just finished it of nicely.

I couldn't get a white envelope anywhere so I customized a brown one with a star stamp, I did get a little carried away :-)

I'd love to enter my card into some challenges

Craft your passion: All that Glitters
Daisy doodles: anything goes
Papermakeupstamps: digi makeover
Love to create challenge: All that glitters
Make it Monday: Anything goes

Maggies morning so far in pictures

I was looking at the photos I took this morning of maggie and its quite cute how her day is progressing. I'm quite sure the last pic will be her sleeping again :-).

After I posted this the silly dog fell into the river (her first time in the water), the horror on her face makes me think she's not going to be a water puppy x

She's happy again with her bone in bed and the blow heater drying her off - I think she may be a pampered pooch

Thank you for sharing our day x

Happy Valentines Day

Romance is in the air

This is a card I have made for my boyfriend for valentines day using the fantastic freebie from Mo Manning, it was free for a very limited time and I'm so glad I was on the ball for once and got it.

I coloured this Mo Mannings image with promarkers, the papers and ribbon are from my stash and I got the arrow from an old scrapbook inspirations freebie. I tried to keep it simple as it was for a boy but couldn't help adding the ribbon/bow, stickles to the rub-on heart and some black gems down the side of my thief. We exchanged cards this morning and my boyfriend loved it, I normally buy him cards or make them on moonpig, but he insisted I make him one this year :-)

With a little help from my friends the cheesy poem inside read:

Like a thief in the night
You gave me a fright
But from the start
you stole my heart!! (told you it was cheesy :-) )

I would like to add my card into some challenges

These are the beautiful flowers I got this morning, I just love the colours

As for Miss Maggie, she was a bit of a rascal today at the park, she stole another tiny puppy's ball and burst it, although in her defense the puppy's owner was playing with the ball with her, and I did tell him she was a destructive madam with toys. It was very cute watching the tiny ball of fluff chance after her and I'm sure theyll both have a good nap later.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog xox

A gift for Miss Maggie

I saw this today and thought I just had to buy it for our house :-)

If anyone lives in Northern Ireland, apparently she and all her doggy day care chums will be in the Sunday life. Ill post a photo if she is. She's becoming quite the celebrity.

Last night we attended a meeting about new proposals about the dog order, ill not get into that but it was funny talking to the other doggy owners, when asked what dog we had and we replied a Doberman- most people said oh your dog is maggie!! We didn't recognise each other without our dogs!!!

My new toy: the Silhouette cameo

After listening to all the girls in Alys Den on FB discussing the different cutting machines, I just knew I had to get the cameo, even though my heart had been set on the cricut. I was like a child on christmas morning when it arrived on saturday :-). After reading the manual and downloading the software I finally got a play on sunday and its amazing, I'm not tied down to cartridges (like the cricut) and there are zillions of files to choose from. Best part is it was so easy to use and I cant wait to get creative.

This is my first card

Not bad ehh? :-) if you have any hints or tips for using my new toy I'd be very grateful. Im off to buy a couple more files.

Thankyou for taking the time to have a look xox

Western challenge

When I saw that Here comes the boys were having a western challenge, I just knew I had to enter this card I made for a friend.

I needed an image that went with the sentiment she asked me to use and when I found this one at www.justinklined.com I knew it was perfect, it is coloured with pro-markers and made with goodies from my stash.

I punched the stars, made them 3D and added ultrafine gold glitter.

I'd like to enter the western challenge at here comes the boys:

Morning Betty 50th Birthday Card

Its crazy how much time passes so quickly between being able to post but I hope you like the card I have made.

I made this card for a girl in work for her sister in-laws 50th birthday, I didn't have much time to make it so I went back to my very favourite Simply Betty stamp, morning betty. Its always a worry making a card for someone with a free rein but thankfully she loved it, so much she asked me to make her another for a 21st but in A4, now that will be a challenge but I have ideas floating around in my head and they include Bettys secret release from last month. Hopefully they'll not be a secret for too much longer and I'll get to share it with you xox

For the card I coloured Betty with promarkers and used the plain part of some paper I got free from a magazine, I hand stitched the grey strips to give it a little interest and added some liquid pearls to the centre of the flowers after giving them a 3D appearance. Off course theres always glitter, because everything always looks prettier with glitter. Inside it reads "getting old aint for sissies - Betty Davies".
I'm so glad she liked it.

Miss Maggie was a little rascal today, my lovely boyfriend who was looking forward to his BLT all day (I know because I tried to steal it last night) had just settled himself in front of the rugby with his sandwich when the air turned blue, and I mean Ive rarely heard him swear. Missy had snatched his sandwich!!! she was literally in the dog house :-(

Id like to enter this card into Simply Bettys Anything goes Challengehttp://simplychallengedchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

Grandad meets Maggie

Grandad finally got to meet Maggie, he just loved her and thankfully she was good as gold. Grandad is 81 and just loves dogs, so much he always has dog biscuits in his pockets for any he meets when he's out and about.

Thanks for having a look xox
